Civil Aviation Training Institute
History
In 1981, by the aids of BUR/81/004 of the Civil Aviation Development Project, the Department of Civil Aviation has clearly demonstrated its capacity to absorb external assistance and experts. According to the MYA/86/003 agreement between the government and UNDP, Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) needed to be established to provide basic training courses for service personnel of the Department of Civil Aviation.
It updated the standards as stipulated by ICAO in accordance with the ICAO Annexes to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. CATC was renamed as Civil Aviation Training Institute, hereafter CATI, in 1997. 3D Simulator was installed to provide ATS training courses in 2012. Nowadays, it is replaced with the new one to update 270° 3D ATC Tower Simulator (ScanSim Simulator, Thales).
CATI is certified as the ISO 9001:2015 standards since 2019 and also recognized as the Approved Training Organization since 2020. CATI that trained all aviation training courses, is the training arm of the Department of Civil Aviation of Myanmar. Up to October 2024, CATI has trained over 32972 participants and conducted 1583 courses since 1991 according to the ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
Mission
- Civil Aviation Training Institute (CATI), Myanmar, under the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), the Ministry of Transport and Communications, is responsible for conducting the training courses specified by the DCA as well as the aviation related training courses with the approval of the Director General of DCA, developing the aviation human resources and providing other services related with aviation industry.
- As it is important to enhance the aviation human resources and to be qualified aviation personnel, CATI plays a vital role in the advancement of aviation industry.
Vision
- It aims to provide the highest quality of training and to share knowledge and experiences of the aviation for the advancement of Myanmar Civil Aviation.
- CATI has continued developing curriculums in order to upgrade the training standard, to enhance the capabilities of the aviation personnel to fulfill the increasing demand of the aviation industry.
